Buffalo Chinese School
Buffalo Chinese School is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious educational organization. It was
established in the middle of 1990s by a group of enthusiastic parents with only a dozen students. Today,
it has developed into an organization with more than 100 students at 12 levels.
The objective of the school is to provide an environment and opportunity for all interested (with or
without Chinese heritage) students to learn Chinese language and culture. The school teaches standard
Mandarin, its Romanization system, pinyin, and simplified characters, and it emphasizes all the four
aspects of the acquisition of a language: listening, speaking, reading and writing. At present, the school
adopts the textbook Chinese (<<中文>> ) edited by Jinan University, China.
The School is supervised by the Board Committee which consists of parent and teacher
representatives and by Parent Committee. It is affiliated to the Western New York Chinese
Club and a member school of Chinese School Association of United States. We welcome and
appreciate donations from organizations and individuals.
水牛城中文学校是一个非赢利性, 非政治性, 非宗教性的文化教育机构.学校是九十年代由几位热心的
家长组织起来的. 最初只有十几名学生, 现已发展成有百余名学生, 十二个年级的学校.
学校的宗旨是为水牛城地区的华人子女及其他对中国语言文化感兴趣的人士提供学习现代汉语和中国文
化的机会与环境. 学校采用普通话, 汉语拼音和简体字教学, 强调语言学习的四个组成部分: 听, 说,
读, 写, 现使用由中国暨南大学编写的<<中文>>教材.
学校在由家长和教师代表组成的理事会和家长委员会的监督下运行. 是西纽约州中华联谊会的分支机
构, 是全美中文学校协会的会员. 学校欢迎并感谢其它团体,组织和个人的赞助.
